Alabama's 2010 Initiative and Referendum Constitutional amendment, HB201, was introduced by Representative Mike Ball and had its first reading on January 12, 2010.
A copy of the bill is now posted on my website @ http://www.doctoriq.com/bama's%20I&R%20bill.htm so it can be read and studied.
If you agree that Alabama voters should have this voice in the government they own and pay for, then contact your representative and your senator and tell them you expect them to help get this bill passed in the 2010 legislative session.
If they say they will, thank them and remind them about it every week or two.
If they don't say they will, let them know that if they run for office this year your vote for or against them hangs in the balance, and then call them back later to see if they have changed their mind.
To see how to contact your senator and representative go to http://www.doctoriq.com/KeyReps.htm.
If you don't know who represents you go to http://www.legislature.state.al.us/misc/zipsearch.html and follow the instructions to learn who they are by simply typing in your nine digit postal zip code. When their names appear click on their names to see how to contact them.
Ask other Alabama voters to do the same thing by forwarding this email to them after removing my email address. Alabama will become the 25th Initiative and Referendum only when and if there is a strong grassroots demand for it.
Thank you for your efforts and hard work in getting this discussed and hopefully voted on in the Alabama Legislature.
ReplyDeleteYou are the best example of getting involved in your local government and are much appreciated.
Salute,
Donna
DDforLiberty graciously posted a copy of an email I sent to her which contains a typographical error of mine. The last sentence of this entry had a word omitted. The sentence should read as follows: “Alabama will become the 25th Initiative and Referendum state only when and if there is a strong grassroots demand for it.”
